want to discuss the fact that Donny Osmonds Pyramid is a resurrected game show whose staying power is being given a second chance. Placing it in the prime time
slot is clearly the best choice even though the original Pyramid was broadcast in a morning time slot, inasmuch as its content, along with the shows revamped demeanor, is indicative
of what has come to represent prime time viewing. Following upon the heels of Pyramids first host, Dick Clark, the producers have much with which to promote, since Clarks
influence and persona reflected a significant element in the original shows overall appeal. "Were exploring different interactive capabilities, but its the same game...You dont want to touch success."1
Choosing Osmond as the new host provides a youthful look to an aged show, a combination that programmers believe to be the complementary mix
necessary to launch it back to game show stardom. Osmonds own career has spanned decades, and his audience is comprised of young and old alike, which is clearly a
conscious choice on the producers part to attract this diverse audience to first watch Osmond for his personal appeal and secondly to reacquaint themselves with a thirty-year-old game show.
