Founded in 1987 this was the successor of the New Zealand Post Office, which was privatised in 1990. The firm is competing in an environment where there has been increasing levels of liberalization and more recently the local loop unbundling has seen the firm divide into five divisions. To appreciate the firm and its performance the firm itself needs to be examined, looking at the company and how it operates, including major strategies as well as the performance of the firm in terms of financial results. No firm operates within a vacuum as such when considering the firm the macro environment, influences and competitive environment should all be considered to assess the firm and the way it is competing. 2. Strategic Profile Telecom Corporation of New Zealand is the countrys largest telecommunications company when measured in terms of revenue production and benefits from being the incumbent operator (Anonymous, 2010; Telecom Corporation, 2009). The organization is one that has followed a growth strategy in order to develop the business in New Zealand as well as gaining access to international markets. The organization sells a wide range of telecommunications services, including fixed line, wireless as well as dimension technology services to both consumer and business customers (Anonymous, 2010; Telecom Corporation, 2009). The organization has grown utilizing a strategy of acquisition.
