because theyre a little rebellious. Others start because theyre offered alcoholic beverages by a friend or an adult and they dont want to say "no" or be perceived as "not
cool." Others drink because its portrayed as a normal part of being an adult by the media, advertisers, and sports figure. There are also the kids who are chronically
depressed, have been abused, or who have poor self-esteem that drink because alcohol simply makes them feel better about themselves and their world. In general, when kids start to use
alcohol, they are in an experimental phase of personal development. Theyre curious about what alcohol does and want to experience what its like to be under the influence of alcohol.
