years, the reality is that teenage pregnancy is a real concern and likely one that will always exist in human society. There are a great many programs and classes that
are aimed and preventing teenage pregnancy, but still teenage pregnancy exists and thus needs to be openly, and encouragingly, approached when a teenage girl becomes pregnant. The following paper examines
teenage pregnancy and discusses the implementation of a program that could assist the pregnant teen. Teenage Pregnancy As is often the case with many statistics, it seems as
though the entire list of statistics for any given year does not come out for years after its completion. As such it appears that the more recent statistics come from
2000. "In 2000, the total number of teen pregnancies in the United States was 821,810 (84 pregnancies per 1,000 people)" (Statistics on Teen Pregnancy, 2007). This number can be further
broken down into various age groups. For example, the group of teens aged 18-19 has the highest rate of pregnancy, and then the 15 to 17 aged group (Statistics on
Teen Pregnancy, 2007). At the same time it is indicated that this group, those 15 to 17, has seen a drop in pregnancy rates: "pregnancy rates dropped by as much
as 23% between 1992 and 2000, while the rate for 18 to 19 year-olds only dropped by 11%" (Statistics on Teen Pregnancy, 2007). In relationship to the state of Florida
(no detailed information was found relating to Southern Florida) in the year 2000 there were 48,440 teenage pregnancies between the ages of 15 and 19 (Teenpregnancy.org, 2007). This appears to
