be a discerning reader and examine research articles with a critical perspective in order to determine strengths and weaknesses of the offered information. The following critique looks at a study
performed by J.W. Herrman (2006) entitled "The voices of teen mothers: The experience of repeat pregnancy" in order to summarize the main sections of the study and evaluate its results
for applicability and validity. Title Polit and Beck (2006) indicate that the title of the research article should clearly indicate the central phenomenon that is the focus of the study.
Another function of the title of a study is to establish the boundaries of the research effort (Speziale and Carpenter, 2007). The title selected by Herrman (2006) fulfills both of
these requirements and accurately reflects the behavioral phenomenon under investigation, as the focus of this study article is on the experience of teen mothers. Therefore, the title reflects the nursing
objective of achieving better understanding of these girls so that repeat adolescent pregnancies can be avoided through the vehicle of formulating effective nursing interventions. Abstract The abstract for this
