An 8 page discussion of the importance of computer utilization in the modern educational environment. The author reviews a current article from the professional literature attesting to the fact that computers are beneficial in this environment. The contention is presented, however, that in order to gain the most benefit we must insure that they are being utilized to their full effectiveness by all teachers, not just those that are supportive of the technology but also those that are resistant to it. between staff, students, parents, and the local community as a whole. The intent of this paper is to review those changes as they are reported by one article in
the professional literature and to develop an Instructional Technology Plan for improving instruction within my own school. The reference article will be Janell Wilsons "Use of Computers by Secondary
Teachers: A Report From a University Service Area, an article published in the July 1, 2003 edition of "Education". Instructional technology has
been in a state of evolution throughout history. In the latter part of the twentieth century, however, the pace of that evolution quickened. With the advent of computers
the fate of the slate blackboard and the dusty corners of traditional libraries began a downward spiral towards extinction. The majority of classrooms now have access to a variety
of forms of cutting edge technology, especially computers. Computers have, in fact, become one of the most innovative and captivating educational tools currently in use in the classroom and
in the home. In just the last decade some $9 billion has been spent in U.S. schools to develop information technology infrastructure (Wilson, 2003). As a consequence, the
vast majority of students have access to the Internet and other educational resources which could have only been dreamt about just a couple of decades ago. Many in the
