one technological invention has affected American culture more so than any other it would be the electronic media. This technological manifestation has impacted our lives in phenomenal ways.
Some of those impacts are good but others are bad. Electronic medias impact on our children is of particular concern. The electronic media has, in many ways, replaced
many of the traditional factors that at one time were responsible for shaping our children in regard to how they regarded themselves and their interactions with their families, their peers,
American culture and indeed world cultures as a whole. Electronic media comes, of course, in a variety of contexts. It
includes everything from television, to movies, to video games. All, it seems, is intent on depicting violence in its most accentuated forms. Some even denounce the electronic media
as a whole as "anarchy and a formula for the dissolution of a common culture" (First Things, 2009, p. 64). To some degree it must be admitted that the
electronic media is actually mirroring our culture. The news for example, is full of violent accounts. We are exposed to accounts of child abductions, rapes, and murders practically
every day. We are kept up-to-date on the violence in Iraq and that unfurling elsewhere around the world. The news, by its very nature, is of course charged
with delivering factual accounts of such violence. Never-the-less, it could be contended that such accounts only add to our childrens repertoire of violence. Such accounts cant help but
