twenty first century is a very different world. Many teenagers have cell phones, most people use computers on a daily basis and gift certificates have been replaced by gift cards
that record a dollar amount that may be deducted like an ATM card. In fact, the ATM card is now taken for granted, something that was looked at with distrust
as late as the 1980s. Technology has changed life as it has been known during much of the twentieth century. To develop new technologies and new industries, a country should
have a technology policy. Not only will such policy help a nation to grow, but it will also prevent unwanted consequences that go to ethics as well as the potential
for severe environmental consequences. In light of all that technology policy embraces, does the United Kingdom have the right balance of laws and policies in respect to technology?
There is no clear cut answer just as there is no broad, all encompassing agenda. Rather, technology has changed at a rapid pace and there are policies concerning the Internet
as well as medical miracles. Technology affects everyone and many industries. In honing in on a few major ones, Britains policy may be evaluated and a conclusion in respect to
its overall policy may be reached. Some have argued that energy policies in OECD countries are too low in relation to the problem at hand (Papathanasiou & Anderson, 2001).
