have little patience with those of us who dont catch on all that quickly. But is technology truly as convenient as is claimed? Or is it really inconvenient.
Well, yes. On the plus side, we have to admit that technology can do amazing things. We can save more lives than ever before because of advances in
medical technology, and that must be seen as a positive development. We can travel farther, faster, and in more comfort than ever before, thanks to developments in the aircraft
industry that make air travel safe and affordable. And our cars are safer, sturdier, and more comfortable as well. Technology has come into our homes, and given us HDTV,
gorgeous surround sound stereos, microwave ovens, and hi-tech kitchen appliances that do everything but go shopping for the food. And of course the computer has become a common sight
in many homes; we go on-line to shop, do research, do homework, communicate with each other, read books, and find out about the world. We can bypass the artificial
barriers governments put up and reach out to each other as human beings. And when we contact people in other countries, we can begin to find the bridges that
connect us, rather than the walls that keep us apart. From entertainment to business, transportation to ranching, communications to design, technology has given us a lifestyle that is founded on
convenience. Most of the time. Things can get really nasty when technology goes haywire; there are examples in many fields. We trust that the ATM machine will
give us our card back, but what happens when it decides to keep it? Since this invariably happens at 1 a.m., or on a Sunday afternoon when there are
