is easy to discern whether or not the writer focuses primarily on the reader or the writer. In evaluating documents it is important to keep in mind that good communication
considers the recipient and their needs as opposed to only the needs or desires of the writer. The documents evaluated include a two paragraph note that comes from the
Director of an Agency entitled "My Tour," where the director explains that his superior had asked him to extend a tour for another year. Here, he writes quite persuasively that
he is happy to be staying in order to assist with the firm awhile longer. Another piece of information, also submitted by a student, is a notice to the workforce
that a seminar on College Savings Plans had been rescheduled due to a recent snowstorm. This memorandum informs the recipients that he or she must re-register for the new date
and points them to an appropriate web site. Finally, another piece of correspondence is a notice to the workforce entitled "You are Responsible for Government Property." Here, the letter is
informative, and provides one with policies about the agency, particularly in respect to how hand receipts are utilized and that no on is exempt from completing hand receipts when either
accepting or transferring equipment. Each of these pieces of writing are good samples and convey that at least the latter two have specific information. The College Saving Plan memo is
informative and even gives a web address, something that shows quite clearly that the writer is concerned about what the recipient will do and what information he or she needs.
By providing a web site to visit, the writer will be assured that he is not flooded with calls for information. The memo is succinct but provides just enough detail
