this one can argue that, in relationship to any business endeavor, the private authority is important for the whole purpose of a business is to make money and as such
their main concern is not that of the societys concerns. Such arguments would indicate that it is the role of the public authority to focus on such concerns. Others may
argue that as members of a society a business is very much responsible for the concerns of a society. There are many
different types of businesses and they are all, ultimately, out to make money and make a profit. However, making a profit can often involve the necessity to meet the concerns
of the society. With that in mind the following paper examines these two perspectives as it involves technological innovation as it concerns Australia. Technological Innovation: Public and Private Authority
Technological innovation is something that ultimately touches every aspect of society, from health care to home products. And, in first looking at the social role of technological innovation it is
perhaps relevant to note that, "The roles of science and technology are so synergistically intertwined that it is virtually impossible to distinguish between them during the developmental cycle which results
in a successful technological innovation" (Fong). This places technology in a category that is obviously deeply connected with science, which is an institution that has long focused on the needs
