The way any training and development program is put together in order to increase the effectiveness of the group needs to deal with the way that the team members work together increasing trust and communications, but also helping develop the skills as well as create cohesion and commitment which can be considered in reference to team theories. As the student has not told us of the original plan the paper is written in a way that could be applied to any plan. The way that a training program should be applied to the team needs to be aligned with theory. The first stage is to bring the team members together in order to create a successful team. Issues such as resistance may be overcome with models of change such as those proposed by Lewin (1952) and Senge (2007). The level of resistance to the teambuilding will vary but a key element will be to ensure that there is the potential for the team member to find and develop roles in order to create stability and a feeling of belonging. Belbin (1996), has developed a team model by looking at the roles that are needed in a team for it to operate and the way that individuals will operate within teams. There are nine roles that are seen within balanced teams, with individuals naturally gravitating to the different roles (Belbin, 1996).
