However, whatever the proportion, we need to consider the way in which products can be successfully developed. This will need teamwork, where all individuals
have input for the product can be developed successfully. If we consider this we can argue that this may be seen as the source for competitive advantages where there are
successful teams, as they can lead to better developments as well as making first mover advantages possible (Thompson, 1998). There are many theories that abound regarding the way the
innovation many be best achieved. Some argue that teamwork is the key, with a good integration and cross department team being present (Flemming and Koppleman, 1996, Handy, 1997). However, others
argue that there is a need for a lone developer, or for a champion or leader in a team that has the inspirations and ideas. Other elements may include their
access to resources, the team dynamics, the way in which the team or individual are perceived by the company as well as peers, and even their past results.
