Repeated readings : Another method for fluency training is to incorporate repeated readings of material into lesson plans. Research has shown that repeated readings serves to increase rate and
accuracy, which promotes skills that can then be transferred to other texts. This practice also aids in helping students to master the art of phrasing in regards to a text,
as well as contributing to improving student comprehension (Richards, 2000). Shared reading : This is a method of whole-group reading instruction that works well when it is incorporated with
"direct instruction of oral reading fluency through repeated readings" (Richards, 2000, p. 534). Big books are particularly recommended for this strategy. Paired oral readings : In this strategy, the
students pair off and, first, read a selected passage silently. Then the students take turns reading the passage orally three times in succession to the other student. During this procedure
the other student takes the role of teacher and offers suggestions and feedback (Richards, 2000). Another method for introducing this strategy is to have the teacher model paired oral reading
with a student who is comfortable reading in front of the class. This modeling can include the two readers asking each other questions about the passage (Richards, 2000). Oral
