an older adult who is returning to education for a variety of reasons. A study conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics revealed that over 60 percent of students
engaged in some form of higher education are adult learners, that is, age 25 or older (Flint, 2001). Faced with a community college classroom with learners ranging in age from
17 to 70, the question before the instructor is how to adjust pedagogy to meet the biological, psychological, sociocultural and cognitive needs of this diverse classroom. First of
all, this writer/tutor does not fully understand the need to address the biological needs of the students, as biological needs of human beings do not change as they age. We
