personality or aspects of personality may be linked to either conflict or the medication of conflict. There are different ways that personality may impact on conflict or its avoidance, Bono
(et al, 2002) look at the role of attributes in the way that individuals perceived conflict, and differentiate between different types of conflict, such as work conflict and relationship conflict.
This built on earlier work where studies considered issues such as the propensity of individuals to compromise, accommodate, compete or collaborate with others (Bono et al, 2002; Van de Vliert,
E and Euwema, 1994). There was also the consideration of the way on which there may be interdependent factors with partners where conflict may arise (Bono et al, 2002).
However the research is limited as there are many aspects of personality that have the potential to impact in this type of research (. Bono (et al, 2002), note
that there is a direct correlation between the level of conflict in a relationship and the level of satisfaction that is reported, higher levels of conflict are associated with higher
levels of dissatisfaction. However, the research undertaken by Bono did not reveal any particular patterns regarding positive or negative correlation between task attributes and the level of relationship satisfaction (Bono
et al, 2002). This may have been surprising as it is contrary to previous research where it was hypothesized that there would be a direct link between task conflict and
relationship conflict (Bono et al, 2002; Haralambos and Holborn, 2004). This appear to indicate a gap where there is contradictory research and an area where there may even
