it can be very beneficial to take a year off. Taking a year off means that a student could do many things besides go to school. They could get a
job. They could travel. They could do volunteer work. They could take a break from learning. Or they could use that time to learn about colleges or a possible career
choice. The following paper examines these possibilities. Taking a Year Off Before College Get a job: Sometimes people need to go
to work to make money for school. Sometimes people need to work to help out the family. Sometimes getting a job will help someone figure out if they like a
line of work. Working also introduces a person to the real world. If nothing else they can make some spending money. One author notes that "A year off, away from
home, can be costly" (Education USA in Taiwan, 2009). This makes getting a paying job helpful. It is also rewarding in terms of independence. :
Travel: Many students like the option of traveling, if they can afford it or get a good opportunity. One author notes, "Many organizations offer programs with an
