the party are the ones friends, the food, and the anticipation of the game. Discussion Allegedly, there are people who would rather stay in the parking lot and tailgate than
attend the game they are supposedly there to see. Given the fact that tailgate parties can be great fun, thats easy to believe. Although people throw tailgate events for summer
sports as well, theres something about the autumn, and in particular, football season, that seems to go with tailgating. Maybe its the cool, crisp air, the colors of the turning
leaves, or the fact that hot food seems to taste better on cold days, but tailgating seems best this time of year. Then too, its only a few weeks to
Christmas, which lends the whole enterprise a very festive air. When football season starts, Santa isnt far behind. The main reason for tailgating in the first place is to get
together with friends who also love the Patriots. Groups meet at the same spot game after game, year after year; says one, the sites may change but "our philosophy and
open door (ok ... tent) policy remains the same. Our merry band of Patriot faithful include a group of regulars but we always welcome the company of fellow Patriot fans
(and those of opposition as well)" (Cardoza, 2010). The point is to get together with a crowd of friends, eat lots of food, drink enough to keep warm during the
game, and have fun. People organize themselves into various crews or groups and the same folks always come to the stadium together (Cardoza, 2010). They meet the same
