family dysfunction. Along these lines, the goals of the center include recovery maintenance (employment assessment and planning, independent living, parenting and interpersonal growth skills); relationships; dealing with shame and guilt
and co-dependency, and boosting self-esteem. To reach these goals, Haven offers services such as life skills training, nutritional and health education, money management skills, support for self-help group participation, family
counseling and education, medical and mental health referrals and housing referrals. Though Havens goals are worthy and its programs helpful, any organization is
only as effective as its personnel. And personnel, to remain effective to constituents, are only as effective as the tools they receive; in other words, training.
