doesnt necessarily walk the talk. Its said that training and development are an important factor for successful human resources management. Training and
development scenarios do a couple of things. Workshops and education help employees better hone their skills, so theyre of more value to the company. Second, and just as important, training
and development are great for employee morale. Most employees like the idea that the company is investing money in them and their futures. Because the employees know that the organization
cares, the employee, in turn, will put forth more effort to do the job correctly. Unfortunately, the training budget tends to be the one thats slashed first, especially during economic
downturns (Guthridge et al, 2009). In fact, in our generic, typical organization, there is somewhat of a training program. The company
will offer tuition reimbursement, as long as a class or degree is directly affiliated with the job the employee is doing. What happens in this scenario is that the employee
is required to sign up and pay for the course. Then, once the course is completed and the grade issued, that grade is submitted, with a form, for reimbursement.
Also, there is a stipend available for those employees who might want to upgrade their jobs skills. The employees, for example, can take
computerized courses on how to work within Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerPoint, for presentations. This stipend (and the tuition reimbursement) continue even during lean times, but are always available. These
