2009 when Toyota began its recall of automobiles, citing defective gas pedals, faulty floor mats, flawed fuel pump wiring and braking software problems (Daniels, 2010). Recalls in this particular industry
arent uncommon - all the major auto makers have had the dubious experience of safety recalls because of faulty parts or problems. But the fact that Toyota, which based its
brand and reputation on quality, was spearheading recalls, was somewhat of a shock in, and to, the industry. The fact that customer complaints about sticky accelerators was not old news
was especially a shock - during various investigations, it came out that Toyota had received such complaints as far back as 2007, but ignored them.
In this paper, well study an overview of Toyota as an organization and corporation, as well as the issues that put this organization into the position
of having to defend its actions. The final question well answer in this paper is whether Toyota has been harmed by its willful ignorance of a problem it created, and
whether it has done well in handling the issue. Though Toyota has taken some important steps to ensure that quality can be built back into its products once again, the
company still has a path to travel before it can be a trusted brand once again. The fact that it has a reputation of fighting recalls, as well as ignoring
