models, 2010). What could have happened? How could this company, which had put so much emphasis on quality control and total quality management
(also known as the Toyota Way) could have erred so poorly? Adding insult to injury is that all of this has taken place during Toyotas first slump in profits; the
first time since the automakers second year in business, in 1938 (Hisao, 2009). Just months after the revelation came to light, analysts are
already determining various causes as to the failure in this situation. Most believe that in Toyotas rush to become the number one car maker in the world, it began focusing
more on profits and less on quality. It can be said, therefore, that in a rush to increase profits for shareholders, that Toyota
rushed new products to market too quickly without examining safety and reliability issues - thereby harming a variety of stakeholders. Issues Faced
