very na?ve Western countries that they did not live in a vacuum and that events in one part of the world had the potential for great impact in other parts
of the world. Many believe that the current situations are a new affair, but in fact they are not. The hostilities which are still ongoing in the Middle East, most
noticeably between the Arab and Israeli peoples, has a history that is long, deep, old and firmly entrenched with beliefs that do not support tolerance, change or brotherhood. The
Arab predicament is the failure of the Arab nations to form any sort of cohesiveness in any facet of their lives, be that political, social, or economic, it would seem.
As a result, having failed to attain success in any of these areas, Arabs fell back on the one constant that has not let them down: their religious identity.
Unfortunately, it is this very religious identity that perhaps offers their greatest comfort and their greatest hindrance as far as progress is concerned. Speak of Israel today and immediately people
think of the war torn area of the Gaza strip. Both the Arabs and the Jews still lay claim to Jerusalem. In fact, if this war between the two peoples
were just about land, the Arabs have many surrounding Arab nations to which they could turn to for donated land, or a like ideology. Instead, it is more than a
battle about real estate, it is a holy war of religions and philosophies. Apparently, the Palestinians have always taken the stance that the Jews were free loaders or squatters who
migrated into the region and took over, much like an unwelcome house guest that continues to stay past their welcome. But, in fact, history shows that Palestine has changed hands
