evident that the adoption of specific thinking strategies would insulate and provide for leaders who were less susceptible to corruption. It would seem, then, that it should be a requirement
for those engaged in the political process to become fully versed in the thinking process. Another philosopher, Immanuel Kant, seems to have been in agreement with Arendts views, to some
extent. Though, it has to be qualified that Kants determination about reason and morality differ. Kants philosophy on morality and ethics states that a moral law exists when it has
occurred out of a reasoning and intellectual process, rather than being guided by emotions. Secondly, right and wrong are upheld by a sense of duty and good will toward others.
Immanuel Kant is representative of the rationalist perspective, and believed that the human mind acts as an active originator of experience rather than just a passive recipient of perception. The
act of reasoning, Kant philosophized, had the awesome task of organizing human life here on Earth. Reason, then takes place independently of experience, he seems to be saying. And, as
it applies to morality, he suggested that morality is dictated by reason to oneself. This, then, is the power of reason over objects, environment, or circumstances. The crucial point, Arendt
offers, is that the activity of thinking provides an intense and ineluctable experience of plurality(Arendt 2000). The process follows something like this: A politician has a thought regarding some legislation
