the world. Romanticism is the term that is generally ascribed to the changing of those prevailing classical attitudes in all the areas, including literature, painting, music, and architecture. If Classical
styles were seen as being typically calm, harmonious, balanced, structured, and rational, then the Romantic period was anything but those things. Romanticism emphasized the individual, the subjective, the irrational, the
imaginative, the personal, the spontaneous, the emotional, the visionary, and the transcendental. Much of Blakes themes are on the state of mans soul and on issues concerning religion. The Zoas
are the spirits which pull the chariot in Ezekiel and appear again in Revelation. Fascinated with them, Blake seems to have studied both their interpretations by medieval scholars and by
non-Christian religions, such as he Greek religions. The Four Zoas: The Death and Judgment of Albion The Ancient Man was the result of such study. In this work, the
theme of revolution is shown through the character of Albion, a giant who has fallen from grace to Earth. Albion has four separate identities which are combined inside him(Emslie). When
he falls from grace these divide from him. One of those identities is called Luvah, which was the part responsible for emotion and passion. However, in division from the wholeness
of Albion, Luvah becomes the spirit of revolution. He is repressed desires and frustrations of passions. He is also known as Orc. Tharmas is the hands, Urizen the mind,
Luvah the heart and Los the Spirit, it might be stated. And as such aspects of mankind, they are always at war with one another. They seem to be most
