condition today. Gilgamesh is the incomparable leader of the people of Uruk. Of course, Gilgamesh, is no ordinary man. He is nearly a god and as such has a great
distain for his people. He is young and causes his people great hardships, so much so that they call out to the other gods to help them. As a result,
Gilgameshs antithesis is created, called Enkidu. Enkidu roams wild in the forests until he is captured with the aid of a temple priestess who tricks him with sexual
favors. He loses his strength, but gains knowledge. The priestess encourages him to come into Uruk and meet Gilgamesh, who is also superhuman. Gilgamesh has a set of prophetic
dreams which forewarn him of Enkidus coming. Enkidu spends a time learning the ways of civilized man with a group of shepherds. Finally, he enters the city and he and
Gilgamesh fight over Enkidus wife. More or less ending in a draw, they become fast friends. However, together they become bored. They journey into the Cedar Forest and fight
Humbaba the Terrible. Enkidu has encountered Humbaba and continues to try to dissuade Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh is stubborn and listens to no one. At the edge of the forest Enkidu steadfastly
refuses to enter. Enkidu and Gilgamesh fight. Together they fight Humbaba and defeat him, but not before Humbaba brings a curse down on Enkidus head. Enkidu and
