and the Chocolate Factory. However, the themes that are brought out in the printed version of this classic tale, exist in their full potency while in the movie they tend to be a bit diluted. As a form of Childrens literature Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, lands thematically on the mark. As a short summary, the tale is that of a young, very poor, very kind-hearted young boy named, Charlie. While his home never wants for love, it does want for any other creature comfort. "There wasnt any question of them being able to buy a better house...or even one more bed to sleep in. They were far too poor for that"(Dahl 5). Upon learning that five lucky children will be chosen to enter the Wonka Chocolate factory and have a lifetime supply of candy, Charlie immediately runs out and gets a chocolate bar. However, the odds seem against him as those who are more financially solvent begin to buy up all of the candy bars. Fate lends a hand and Charlie wins the last ticket issued. Once inside the factory, each childs honesty and integrity is tested. Thematically, one of the overarching principles is that of honesty. One by one, the children are fall pretty to their own greed. They are told repeatedly what the consequences are for disobedience and still, eventually, all of the children succumb to temptation. Even Charlie is tempted, but realizes his folly and repenting of his departure from his own morality, confesses his transgression. At the end of the story, it is revealed that the lottery in the chocolate bar was a cover for the true intentions of Mr. Wonka.
