an essence of their origins. As such, the traditional history of the wedding ceremony of the Aztec Indian is particularly interesting for its high use of symbols and legend. Known
for their complex social and religious structures, this civilization might have contributed many things to the world had Cortezs zeal not erased them from the face of the Earth. Nonetheless,
some of their culture still remains, though it is certain that much of what was once a thriving culture and way of life is lost. What is left, then, are
many of the works of art, called Codices. However, it is now hotly debated as to whether they should be called art, or rather considered writing. The Aztec civilization can
be said to have reached their zenith centuries before the Western Civilization had begun to flourish. When most view the codices, which list the wedding ceremonies of the Aztecs, and
the cultural aspects of the Aztecs, one views it with the modern eye and sees the lack of technology that rivals that of the modern era. However, it can be
said that because someone can invent it, that it does not necessarily mean that it should be invented. From all accounts the Aztecs had a most prosperous society, a language,
a culture, and a way of life. This way of life is left to future generations as the only testament to a civilization which has come and gone. Though this
