presence in our lives is also leading to some complex issues about free speech and control - issues that, many times, are making their way legally to the U.S. Supreme
Court. There is good reason for such concern. Because the Internet at this time is an essentially self-monitored, self-regulated medium, almost anything
goes. Therein lies the problem. On the one hand, the government is concerned about the "anything," more specifically, obscene material and child
pornography that can be accessed by anyone, regardless of age or upbringing. On the other side lies those who support First Amendment Free Speech rights, and believe that any curtailment
of those rights is tantamount to censorship. In this paper, well examine the U.S. Supreme Court and its relationship to the Internet.
Well examine the cases that the Court has listened to about the Internet and determine how the briefs were judged. Well also examine some resources that can provide some factual
and useful information about the Supreme Court, and how it is both dealing with and using the Internet. Recent Court Cases Because
the Internet deals with communications, it should likely come as little surprise that much of the court cases making it to the higher court should involve the First Amendment -
