the same practices as the larger corporations. Recognizing that it was small enterprises which founded the American economy, the Small Business Administration continues to aid the small business owner to
this day. OVERVIEW OF SBA PURPOSE The Great Depression left the country reeling in its aftermath. The SBA, or the precursors to the SBA, were created shortly after the Great
Depression and continued to evolve into its present form after World War II. The basic purpose of the SBA is to act as a loan guarantee for a small
company who wishes to get a loan from a bank or other lending institution(Green 9). The financial institutions are more willing to do this because the SBA lessens the risk
of the business going bankrupt and not being able to repay the loan. Their other basic purpose has been to proved small business owners with an educational forum whereby the
small business owner can learn such things as how to write a business plan, how to apply for a loan and other areas of inquiry as regards the business climate
of todays business world. Lastly, the SBA works as an advocate for the small businessman. Before, the small business was shut out of Washington. The corporate machines made certain
of that. However, it was decided that the SBA acted much as a conglomerate and as such its members should be represented in Washington and capable of lobbying right along
