the countrys emergence into the mainstream world. The dynasty, which lasted 300 years, was anything but peaceful as it featured centralization of government (mainly by force) and the opening
of trade to Western nations such as Great Britain. In addition, although the Qing dynasty a tempted to support isolationist policies, the West finally made a breach into China
during this period. The Qing Dynasty was set into place when the Manchu took over the government (Minnesota State University). Although foreigners
now ruled China, the Manchu kept in place the Ming government, making small adjustments (Minnesota State University). The adjustments in this place or that the Manchu had more power
than the Chinese did (Minnesota State University). The Qing in the meantime, banned intermarriage among the Chinese and retained their strength over
the Chinese by separating duties between the Chinese troops and the Manchu troops (Minnesota State University). This was the period of time when the vision of the "samurai" warrior
emerged -- the Qing required that Chinese men shave their heads and wear queues, rather, small ponytails, at the back of their heads (Minnesota State University). The Qing also
ordered men and to where the Manchu clothing rather than the clothing style, during the Ming Dynasty (Minnesota State University). As for
women, clothing changes were not implemented, although the Qing did forbid the binding of womens feet -- at this ruling was difficult to enforce and eventually withdrawn (Minnesota State University).
