Generally, a paper of this type would start out with an explanation of what it would be about. In this case, we could maybe say something like
"The Navy wasnt a good plan for me because of poor pay, logistics and classes I just didnt like." This sets up the paper, then, for further explanation.
The first case in point was the poor pay. While the student doesnt indicate an expectation of what pay he or she expected to
receive while in the Navy, that might be a good place to start. "When I first signed on, my recruiter told me about the pay scale and benefits, and it
seemed great, at the time." But maybe the recruiter left out the fact that some of the health insurance coverage or meal expenses would be taken out of the regular
pay, leaving the student with less than what hed expected. "Because of all Id been led to believe during recruitment, when I
received my first paycheck, I was stunned. Id expected taxes to be taken out; what I hadnt expected was that other things would be deducted as well." This is the
time during which the student would list those "other things," such as insurance, education and so on. "Here I was, expecting free education from the government in exchange for service
