man in very extreme and harsh manners. Others have stated that Machiavelli was a victim of his era and political machines. Still, others have analyzed the work and found that
all judgments of Machiavellis aim not to explore a Kings crimes, but his mistakes which would plunge the country into chaos. Of the three theories, one has to consider that
conventional morality has very little place in the mindset of a monarch, according to Machiavelli, and in some respects he may just be right. Machiavelli, considered himself a student of
the political systems of his day, and as such undertook the immense task of creating a noble primer of sorts for the prince coming to power. With this in mind,
then, Machiavelli more or less wrote this primer as a discussion about the way things should be done, in his opinion and experience, rather than the way they had actually
been handled by the previous administration. He seemed to believe that with the responsibility of the throne, a person of the ruling class had to put aside their personal beliefs
in favor of what would keep the country secure, both financially and territorially. It is obvious that he believed difficult choices are sometimes made by the ruling monarch on behalf
of his less knowledgeable subjects. There were several basic principals that Machiavelli put forth for his new princes-to-be. First, he states that there are five ways in which one might
come to power and each should be weighed for its future consequences. A sense of morality never comes into play, here, but rather is a luxury that a ruler cannot
