serve under the Navy standard a sense of purpose and direction when it comes to going about their duties in defending the country. In this paper, well answer some questions
concerning those values, and shed some light on the Navys core mission and values. Despite the scandal that erupted with "Operation Tailhook" earlier in the 1990s, the Navy has attempted
to operate with a sense of decorum and purpose in order to allow its members to serve their country with pride. To
help us better understand this military organization, well answer the following questions. 1. Define the U.S. Navys culture as of today in 2004. Provide an overall
perspective of the U.S. Navys culture. To answer this question, were going to examine the Navys command structure, from that structure, we
can make some assumptions about how culture springs from this type of organization. According to the overall U.S. Military web site, the Navys command structure can be somewhat complex and
involved, and differs, depending on whether the group is on shore command or operational command (U.S. Military, 2004). The "shore establishment" branch provides support to operating forces ("the fleet") through
administrative and educational tasks, general informational support, training, technology, maintenance of air bases and so on (U.S. Military, 2004). Meanwhile, the operating forces are the front line people, these are
the ones who are directly in charge of security and safety -- and sometimes training overlaps from shore establishment (U.S. Military, 2004).
