inevitable seemed likely: War. The newspapers of the day carried the details of the ongoing battle in Congress between the free states and the slave states. Depending on where one
lived, the slant of the news favored ones area. If one were to have lived in the North during the time of 1820 then the following paragraphs may have been
similar to those that would have been read by the buys of the Penny Press (newspapers cost a penny, then). It has come to the ears of the illustrious
editor of this newspaper, obtained exclusively from the source for the reader, that once again, the Souths greed has served to give way to spurious and egregious behavior on the
part of the Southern representatives. Having been privy to the proceedings on February last year, the editor of this newspaper witnessed James Tallmadge, the esteemed and enlightened gentleman from New
York, as he proposed yet another ban on slavery in the Southern States. This issue has time and time again come to the floor to be considered. Each time, it
has to be stated, the Southern States are given monumental, if not moral, reasons for ceasing and desisting from this abhorrent tradition of human degradation. And yet, as of this
writing, it seems clear that the Southern states are not willing to rise above their greed, for their large plantation homes and their opulent estates to see that this particular
