this business community, there is a great deal of discussion about strategy, strategic moves and formulating strategy. But what, exactly, is strategy? How is it defined? McKiernan (1997) wondered the
same thing, pointing out that strategy is one of those issues that has moved in a variety of directions since the mid-20th century (McKiernan, 1997). At one time, strategy involved
staying in business and making money. These days, of course, strategy, and the concept of strategy, is much more complex than simply keeping the doors open and making piles of
money. "So what is strategy?" asks author Roger Evered in the title of his article. Good question - Evered notes that, while
the word strategy (and its cousin, "strategic") is used in a great number of books and articles, few of these really have any kind of clear concept about the meaning
of strategy. He does remind us, however, that the word strategy has Greek roots - its from the word strategos, meaning a general
in command of an army (Evered, 1983). Some thousands of years later, however, Evered lies the definition of strategy as introduced by K.R. Andrews and J.B. Quinn, namely that, in
