been used in describing one of the early classical musicians named, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. When one uses the term genius there must
be some definitive criteria for evaluation. Choose any person that has been labeled a genius and they all share similar characteristics. Not withstanding, they all share the ability to see
beyond common structures and commonly held ideas, belief systems in place. They also share the dogged determination and stubbornness to dare to change that which is severely entrenched and damned
the consequences. Amadeus wrote as a court musician for many years initially, writing several opera seria, the most notable, perhaps is his
La clemenza di Tito, which he wrote for King Leopold. However, even working under the restrictions imposed on him by aristocratic whims, he managed to begin what would be a
lifelong pursuit of pushing the musical envelope. One difference between Mozart and perhaps those composers of his day, was that he did not particularly care for the librettos that rhymed,
or were overly superfluous or prose-like. It is clear to see that he believe that the text should fit the music, not the other way around.
His opera, La Nozza de Figaro, while following the parameters of the comic opera, began to introduce moral dilemmas psychological angst, and beyond what any composer
