enough to meet the demands. In this paper, well examine the concepts of the "learning organization" to determine how effective such an
organization can be in terms of expansion and competition. As such, well answer the following questions. What sorts of information would one gather as manager?
According to McNamara (1999), the key to improving organizational performance involves gathering information. Gathering information, he continues, and the methods used to do this primarily depend on
the size and culture of the organization (McNamara, 1999). He points out, for example, that a larger organization with a standardized process (such
as an assembly line manufacturing plant) can implement and carry out information gathering through standard ISO methods, involving improvements in total quality management (which would feature other measurements such as
benchmarking and continuous improvement) (McNamara, 1999). But what about a service-oriented company with no hard and fast products or continuous improvement to monitor?
Information can be tracked and gathered here as well - business process reengineering, for example, is one good way to re-design organizational structures from the ground up (McNamara, 1999). Additionally,
a balanced scorecard, which is beginning to receive some good notice among organizations, focuses on internal business processes, learning and growth, customer perspective and financials to determine if the organization
