Labor Theory of Value, as proposed by Marx. This particular theory ends up examining social relations that help shape capitalist economies. In other words, capitalism isnt quite so much about
making money, as it is about the relationships. He compares, the "use value" of a commodity (in other words, how useful it might be to a given society) with the
exchange value, in other words, what a commodity might bring in exchange for other commodities or money. Goods, according to Marx, are exchanged, not for financial profit, but based on
how high their use value might be. He also throws in the idea that labor time should determine value as well. Socially

points out that capitalism automatically means new methods of production that mean more production using less labor. Less labor (along with tighter monetary policies) means a slow economy and laid-off
