cyperspace it doesnt matter what ones income is. Looks, social class, and physique no longer matter in the cyberworld. For many this has tremendous appeal as hours and hours are
spent in virtual communities which cater to any number of interests and hobbies. Unfortunately, like with anything, there is a downside. It is this downside that has psychologists most worried,
especially where teens are concerned. It would seem that many teens are opting for cyber relationships as opposed to the flesh and blood variety. In many respects, these communities
allow these teens the freedom and boosts to self esteem that may not be afforded them in the real world. In these communities they are able to be anyone they
care to create. They can become their alter egos on these sites acting as someone that they only dream of being in realtime. However, most psychologists state that this only
prolongs the inevitable and in the end, delays the necessary social interaction necessary for maturity and human development. Dr Mubarak Ali Rahamathulla is currently engaged in an ongoing study of
teens and cyberspace. He says that introverted teens are the most susceptible to abuse of the internet. His studies suggest that teens who are already shy and introverted never develop
the social skills that one to one contact would offer them. As such, then, these teens are not able to effectively reach out emotionally to others in any other way
than through cyberspace. This has long-ranging and far reaching ramifications toward opposite sex relationships in the future. What may very well be happening, then, is that these teens are setting
themselves up for a lifetime of being lonely, or worse. On the other side of that coin is that teens will act in socially inappropriate ways once inside these online
