as people began traveling and moving farther from home. But what has really boosted this aspect has been the Internet. Nowadays, people
can log onto their computers, enter a chat room and meet someone to become romantically involved with - all without leaving their chairs.
This area is an important one to study mainly because the Internet is becoming such a main part of most of our lives. In addition, romantic relationships created through
the Internet tend to be of different caliber - rather than stimulating one another with looks or tone of voice, personality must come through a keyboard and computer screen which
no doubt changes the way in which society will conduct romance and relationships in the future. Because of the Internet, were no longer bound by geographic borders, or even by
time. As a result, this has widened the pool for many people to conduct and maintain an online relationship. In fact, some scholars and experts note that "computer-mediate communication (CMC)
can be beneficial in helping some individuals meet and form relationships, especially those who have had difficulty doing so because of sex role, shyness or appearance inhibitions (Lane, 2001). Others
appreciate the security that CMC can offer (Lane, 2001). Before continuing, we must mention that it isnt the purpose of this paper
to judge whether Internet relationships are good or bad - there have been plenty of positive and negative stories about developing and maintaining relationships online. Rather, this paper seeks to
