worker to "check the book," so to speak, for the "right" cure for an ailing client. While this approach was certainly easy, it didnt do much for treatment.
Recently, new initiatives have been introduced to human services work to try not only to make it more individualized for each client, but to
help the human services worker grow as well. The belief here is that if the worker can grow, he/she has a better chance of helping the client as well.
In this paper, well examine the multi-dimensional approach of human services work, and determine how it fits in with a successful client-counselor relationship.
The MD approach suggests that human services work isnt performed in a vacuum. Rather, its a solid dance, a positive interaction between client and worker, that must be approached with
the thought that each client is unique, and brings a different set of problems to the table. Behind the Multi-Dimensional Approach What,
exactly, is the multi-dimensional approach, known as the "MD" approach? For purposes of this paper, its a specific way of regarding and understanding development and learning, as well as the
different dimensions that influence the learning processes. For human services workers, the MD approach helps the workers focus practice, programs and policies on the client, his/her context and environment, coping
