doting husband. However, when circumstances begin to compound themselves, it becomes evident at the end of the play that the confident warrior, the man among men, has fallen prey to
his own insecurities, and at the end, realizes it. In the end, one sees a return to the nobility of the character at the end, even though it costs him
his life. Othello, as depicted from the outset, is a brilliant leader and generally a good hearted man. This he alludes to in his first lines, where he states that:
"I have done the state some service and then knowt: No more of that"(Act V). Unfortunately, his fatal flaw is that he is basically insecure and extremely proud. These
two factors have combined to allow him to fall prey to Iagos insinuations about Desdemona. Almost from the beginning Iagos poison has begun to work. Othello also takes an assessment
of who he really is. He realizes only to clearly that he has been too quick to trust those who eventually betrayed him. For all his exploits on the battlefield,
Othello is a very simple man. He is not very observant and quite emotional, open and trustful in nature. This is all used against him and when he is confronted
with the civilized manner of a Venetian court, he is clearly out of his element. "If stirred to indignation, as "in Aleppo once", he answers with one lightning
stroke. Love, if he loves, must be to him the heaven where either he must leave or bear no life. If such a passion as jealousy seizes him, it will
