yet, Richard Valantasis in his exploration of the discovered book of Thomas (The Gospel of Thomas) shows that Jesus in this Gospel is saying basically the same thing. When one
studies these often forgotten, and suppressed, books of the Bible it always serves to provoke, disturb and, if one is lucky, to illuminate. Saying #77 in the Gospel of Thomas
offers the serious scholar several important questions to ask, and in answering them, gaining a greater understanding of Jesuss purpose on Earth. The Gospel of Thomas sayings were discovered in
the mid 1940s along with many other writings from the same time period or later. Some of the texts which were originally a part of the Gospel of Thomas
were a mixed bag of Platonic discourse, Gnostic mysticism, and Christian. Saying #77 states: I am the Light that is above them all, I am the All,
and the All came from me and the All attained to me. Cleave a piece of wood and I am there; lift up the
stone and you will find me there. What one must do, then, is unlock the puzzle of the word usage by Thomas
in these passages. Ostensibly, this is a saying of Jesus and part of his ministry. Therefore, if one substitutes the word light to mean energy or divinity, then one can
see that this passage means that all things are connected by virtue of the shared divinity. In other words, if there is only one great energy, one divinity so to
