facing everyone is how to live and learn with technology. In many cases the computer can truly enhance a persons learning experience and perhaps reach them in a way that
the old traditional way of educating cannot. New approaches to computer education will necessarily include innovations in multimedia interactivity between student, computer and instructor. Given this, then, the future
seems quite promising for many of the new and innovative audio and interactive multimedia programs. In this century it is not inconceivable that
computer enhanced learning will become more of a way of life in nearly every facet of a students education, from elementary to collegiate level. New innovations include real time simulations,
experimental options for discovery, and will include sound, animation, which will promote active learning on the part of the user. Is there a
downside to computer-aided education? Potentially, as with anything, there is the possibility of abuses and/or shortsightedness on the part of programmers as well as those designing curriculum(Alliance for Childhood, 2000).
However, it is important, one must say, to realize that most school systems assume that a majority of the student body will have access to a home computer. However, this
does bring to light some of the inherent problems with computer-enhanced learning. One of the potential problems that experts are talking about
is the addiction to the Internet and the heavy reliance upon the Internet to supply more than just educational needs. Clifford Stoll in Silicon Snake Oil says, "Every hour that
youre behind the keyboard is sixty minutes that youre not doing something else"(Stoll 1995). In other words, many students are wasting their lives away behind a computer, does education want
