Yet in the past, it has been common for company management simply to plunk down a bunch of money on an information
system, with the idea that the IT guy could put something together quickly and then get it working for employees to use. In this method however, failures are likely
to occur. In this paper, we will discuss such failures and try to offer certain solutions. The reason why it examine a
failure of information systems is so important is because information technology is no longer necessarily simply a business resources -- rather, information technology has pretty much become the business environment
(Chaffey et al, 2000). Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, companies have been spending more and more money on information technology to help build credible information systems (Chaffey et al,
2000). As far back as 1998, the Financial Times reported that annual expenditure on IP could end up topping $200 billion worldwide (Chaffey et al, 2000).
As we examine this however, surveys are proving that IS is not necessarily working to its full potential -- mostly because of problems in the
management, designed and/or implementation of the system (Chaffey et al, 2000). A great deal of literature in fact, have shown a number
of information systems failures, especially during the past decade (Xu et al, 2003). Although failures have been pointed to design concerns (such as access to data, ease of use and
graphical presentation), interestingly enough, available literature doesnt exactly suggest consensus as to what might boost IS success (Xu et al, 2003). One
