expanded across the continent of Africa from 300BC onward. Broader questions have been answered about the history and culture of the Bantu by a study of the evolution and expansion
of their languages. Geographically speaking, Africa is very large. Given this, then, how is it possible, and what forces might have been responsible for such a dramatic influence to
take place? What is known about the Bantu is that they were one of the earliest agriculturalists. The region where most anthropologists believe Bantu originated is in open grassland and
is one of the primary reasons for the expansion of the Bantu language. The ability of the Bantu to produce their own food without having to migrate allowed them to
remain stationary, develop a culture and a stronghold. Likewise, the ability of the Bantu to establish trade gave rise to the influence of other cultures, whose introduction of bananas and
other tropical foods allowed the Bantu to also settle and occupy the forest zones where previously none could live. Most anthropologists
agree that it must have been a combination of factors which allowed the Bantu to influence such a wide area of Africa. Some of those factors included the development of
iron technology, allowing the Bantu to cultivate deeper into the soil, and to domesticate the forestlands. The development of settlements and communities also
gave Bantu the advantages that other tribes and clans did not have at the time. Agricultural prowess would also begin to include the domestication of cattle, as well as bring
