the power to reason. Kevorkian gained the status of a cult hero for those believing in death with dignity, whereas others thought he had no right to play God, no
matter how ill or terminal the patients were (Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide - Jack Kevorkian). However, there is little doubt that
if someone is suffering greatly, or if someones quality of life is such that the person requests it, euthanasia needs to be performed.
There are those, as we mentioned above, who believe that euthanasia are against both word and will of God, that there is a reason for suffering before
death (Overview of Arguments against Euthanasia). Many religions, especially, believe that the more suffering that is done here on earth before death, the more likely that person will end up
in heaven. Furthermore, many religions believe that those who suffer will grow in wisdom and character. This, quite frankly, is nonsense. There
is nothing noble about suffering. The idea of the saint-like person gaining wisdom while cancer is eating away at her insides is ridiculous. More often than not, such a person
becomes a raving lunatic (ask anyone that has experienced the last few months of a beloved family member suffering from terminal brain cancer). Many times, those with this advanced form
of the disease are barely coherent, let alone "learning" from their suffering. They are consistently lashing out at their loved ones because they dont recognize them. Where is the nobility
or learning in that? Furthermore, there is little noble about someone in advanced stages of colon cancer who is constantly on
