were viewed with a business as usual glance by those living in Latin America. Terrorist activity is relatively unknown in the USA, but to the average citizen living in Latin
America, terrorism, bombings, armed men on street corners, are a way of life. However, the bombings on the WTC in New York were not without their effect around the world,
and Latin America, though it may not have been as shocked as the rest at the level of violence, could not remain unaffected. When one reads Latin American history it
is rife with bloodshed. What seems to have become a norm for the region is a juxtaposition of the haves and the have nots. There is no ruling middle class.
In stark contrast many live in opulence while others must bury their children who die each year from starvation and exposure. In each decade of Latin Americas history, the workers,
the peasants, have a record of rising up, their levels of violence no less worse than that of Osamas men. In the end, though, they only end up killing more
like themselves, who worked as poor hired guns for the wealthy. And so the cycle begins again. Of course, the last few decades have seen new elements being added.
Latin America is THE place for small arms trafficking, and the United States has been one of the chief instigators as far as cracking down on the trade. Other illegal
activities are funneled or headquartered in Latin America and also have no love affair with the American government. When the WTC was attacked and America shifted its priorities to include
