for granted, the composition of the American family is far different today. This has left many sociologists, psychologists and anthropologists scratching their heads. What has been the significant factor in
the restructuring of the traditional family? Some suggest that cultural and basic value systems which clash and are irreconcilable may be to blame. Most know
the story of Cinderella. Most understand that this rags to riches story ends happily ever after. Consider the old Grimms Brothers Fairy tale. The beautiful young maiden is used and
abused until her prince rescues her from her life of obscurity. Willingly, Cinderella offers, even fights for the right, to try on the glass slipper that will indicate that she
is the princes true love. Little girls are taught that they want a rescuer, a knight in shining armor. They personify their fathers, for the most part, as being this
type of savior. Their whole childhood is spent being indoctrinated with this myth of helpless females needing the protection and therefore love of the big strong man. Why is the
institute of marriage pushed onto little girls and not onto boys? Why are the attributes most recognized in little girls that of beauty and appearance? Not many people are overheard
telling their high schoolers that they are beautiful, yet this is one of the major characteristics reinforced by the parents. Why is this important? Most will consciously state that it
isnt important. However, intellectualizing the concept and actually internalizing it, is another thing. Gender bias, a form of cultural bias, is a prevailing problem in the World today, and women
